Custodian

Members of the Custodial team perform a variety of tasks, including general upkeep and cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, and are responsible for a safe working environment for students, staff, and guests. The school undertakes a number of functions and events throughout the year for which there is need for special custodial services, as well as set-up. This position requires a high level of customer service and flexibility. Custodial positions report to the Director of Facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors
• Empty trash and recycling, and replace liners
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces
• Replenish restroom and classroom supplies
• Maintain orderly and attractive common spaces
• Assist with setup and breakdown for school events and meetings
• Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards promptly
• Support seasonal needs such as snow removal assistance or light grounds upkeep
• Follow established cleaning protocols and safety procedures
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment responsibly
• Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards
• Contribute to a safe environment for students and staff
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Facilities and Head of School

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred.
• Skills:
• Knowledge of cleaning and equipment.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Physical stamina
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Other Requirements:
• Background check and other employee handbook policies
• 2nd Shift position after students and faculty depart

Working Conditions

• The position involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
