As a Production Team Member, you will be assigned to do various jobs around our Modesto Cannery and our Distribution Center. In this role, you will work throughout the season which begins in July and runs through October. You may have multiple duties such as a Spice Breaker, General Laborer, Janitor Helper, Tomato Sorter, Sanitation, and/or similar jobs. All job assignments are done according to the guidelines of our Union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This position will be cross trained in the following functions:

Ingredient Laborer:

• Follow a written recipe to create a formulated tomato sauce.
• Weigh out ingredients to match the recipe.
• Utilize a scale to weigh out ingredients.
• Update a tracking sheet for individual ingredients.
• Sweep and clean the seasoning room and equipment between shifts.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Cannery General Laborer:

• Cleaning: Clean and sweep all areas.
• Breaker for other production roles such as Cooks.
• Inspecting cans throughout the cannery.
• Washing and cleaning empty cans.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Warehouse General Laborer:

• Repair damaged cases by lifting and restacking cases up to 50 Lbs.
• Label stripping- Stands on feet, primarily bent over, cutting or slicing labels. Remove labels and restack cans.
• Washing and cleaning empty cans.
• Cleaning: Clean and sweep all areas.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Janitor Helper:

• Clean all break rooms and other areas around the plant.
• Dump garbage, deliver ice and water to various locations, and assist the main Janitor in their daily routine.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Tomato Sorters:

• Evaluate tomatoes on a moving conveyor belt under the direct guidance of a Cannery Sorting Supervisor.
• Remove and discard tomatoes that are not red in color or have visible blemishes or defects.
• Identify and remove the occasional stalk, stick, or stem that may appear on the tomato belt.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Sanitation Clean-up Crew:

• Spray chemicals/water to clean machinery throughout the Cannery.
• Maintain all Production areas clean throughout their shift.
• Other duties as assigned according to the Union CBA.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Pass all/any pre-employment screenings, which may include drug screening exam, physical exam with lifting (40-50 lbs.) and bending requirements, and I9 verification.
• Be flexible with shift change requirements and have reliable transportation throughout the season.
• Must be able to work long hours, including weekends.
• Maintain reliable attendance throughout the season.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written in English.
