Maintenance Worker (Full-time /Part-time position)
JOB DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION INFORMATION
Competencies:
The Maintenance Worker must possess strong customer service skills; have a flexible nature and a command of the English language. This position also requires excellent organization and follow-through skills and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
The Maintenance Worker must have basic janitorial skills, proficient in the use of trimmers, chainsaws, blowers and basic hand and power tools. Basic knowledge and ability to operate a forklift is a plus. Candidate should be able to lead crew of Alternative Work Program and Community Service Workers.
The ideal candidate would be flexible for day, evening and weekend work schedules. The primary schedule will be 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Wednesday threw Sunday.
Physical Requirements:
The candidate must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, crouch, torso twist, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, stairs and bleachers, reach overhead, reach shoulder height and reach below shoulder height. In addition, candidate must be adaptable to potential inclement weather, be it excessive summer heat or cool nights.
Under the supervision and direction of the Senior Maintenance Worker of the Stanislaus County Fair, the Maintenance Worker is required to perform the following functions:
1. Serve as an event liaison providing event management with setup and tear-down.
2. Operate a forklift, golf cart, and other small-motorized equipment.
3. Check and Service restroom facilities and grounds, including trash.
4. Utilize problem solving skills and time management skills.
5. Lead a small crew of AWP and Community Service Workers.
6. Responsible for securing the facility after events have ended.
7. Have a Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
8. Load and unload equipment and material as required.
9. Utilize hand and power tools, including screw gun, grommet tool, hammer and nails, pliers, screwdrivers, Exacto knife, razor knife, razor scraper, and more.
10. Erect ladders and other work platforms.
11. Proficient in use of hand and landscaping power tools
12. Prepare and maintain work materials and supplies
13. Drive a golf cart throughout the fairgrounds on a regular basis.
14. Basic understanding of carpentry, plumbing and electrical trouble shooting skills.
15. Other duties as assigned.
Work Site Environment:
Inside buildings and outdoors for event setup/tear-down, basic grounds up-keep, and landscaping.
Hours and Rate of Pay:
The Maintenance Worker position is a 30-40 hour per week position.
Commencing the second week in July and continuing through closing day of the Fair, the position may require up to 10 to 14 hours per day for 14 consecutive days—with possibility of minimal days off during the run of the fair.
Rate of pay for this position is $20-$25 per hour or more, based on demonstrated experience.
