Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs and care plans
- Maintain cleanliness of residents’ living spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance - Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, medication logs, and incident reports
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being, especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Follow safety procedures diligently during patient transfers, heavy lifting, or emergency situations such as CPR or first aid response
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement personalized care plans aligned with each resident’s needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, autism support, and hospice care is highly desirable
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate medical equipment like Hoyer lifts effectively
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in condition
- Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with residents, families, and team members
- Valid experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities preferred
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all safety protocols under HIPAA regulations
