What This Role Is About
You’ll be a core technical leader building the backend infrastructure for high-performance AI / ML workloads. You’ll design microservices and distributed systems, build APIs, scale data pipelines, lead feature development from concept through deployment, and influence engineering strategy alongside founders. You’ll help shape how data is stored, served, and versioned for large-scale multimodal AI applications.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Architect and build scalable backend infrastructure optimized for AI/ML workloads
- Lead end-to-end delivery of key product features, from concept to deployment and support
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservice architectures for customer-driven use cases
- Build and scale distributed systems capable of high-throughput, low-latency data processing
- Develop CI/CD pipelines and maintain robust DevOps practices for continuous testing, deployment, and iteration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, ML, frontend/backend engineers to deliver aligned features
- Mentor engineers, establish engineering best practices, and contribute to defining the system’s architecture roadmap
- Ensure reliability, monitoring, logging, and uptime for production systems using modern DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, cloud)
Who Will Thrive in This Role
- 10 years of backend engineering experience, with significant contributions to building scalable platforms.
- Deep expertise in Python and modern backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI), plus strong knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB).
- Proven track record of architecting and scaling distributed systems, microservices, and building RESTful APIs for large data workloads.
- Experience owning product delivery from inception through support — end-to-end responsibility.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to work closely with founders and cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with rapid iteration, ambiguity, and evolving priorities; proactive mindset and ability to anticipate challenges.
