As Chief Inspector, you’ll have the authority and responsibility for managing, supervising, coordinating, training and scheduling all inspection functions for maintenance release.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure compliance with the Repair Station and Quality Manual (RSQM) in the performance of inspection duties.
- Ensure the standards and system for receiving, preliminary, hidden damage, in-process and final inspections of articles undergoing maintenance, preventive maintenance or alteration are performed in accordance with the applicable maintenance data and the RSQM.
- Maintain and Implement QSP 7.5.3 Identification and Traceability.
- Determine whether the requested maintenance, preventive maintenance or alteration on articles received for work can be accomplished within the applicable maintenance data, despite any other damage or discrepancies noted.
- Ensure that work performed on articles under the authority of the repair station is appropriately approved for return to service on the maintenance release document.
- Support the Quality Manager with Audits.
- Determine when Articles are beyond repair.
- Initiate the process that determines whether an article should be reported under the Suspected Unapproved Parts program and for filing reports under that program.
- Ensure Scrap parts are segregated in a manner that will prevent their use in maintenance, preventive maintenance or alteration pending final disposition from the customer.
- Review and approve operation routers, technical plans and special process parameters, etc.
- Communicates with vendors and customers as needed.
- Ensure personnel have appropriate knowledge or are properly trained prior to assigning inspection tasks.
- Ensure inspection personnel certifications and qualifications are maintained current.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Two or more years of experience working in an FAA 145 repair station or in a similar Quality Control position in an FAA regulated environment.
- Two or more years of experience with inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment and tools used to determine the airworthiness of the article on which maintenance, preventive maintenance or alterations are being performed.
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- A&P License preferred
- Aviation accessory and/or component experience.
- Experience with turbo-prop or turbo-fan and/or NDT.
- Familiar with FAA Order 8130.21
