Job Description: This position is designed to be primarily Monday-Friday. As such the incumbent will typically work 40-45 hours per week. However, no number of hours is guaranteed. The hours worked will be those demanded by the work necessary to accomplish specified department objectives and individual work assignments. Hours more than 40 per seven-day work week will be paid at time and one-half AND are to be authorized in advance by the Assistant Training Manager. The primary hours for the position are 7:15am-3:45pm, including a thirty-minute meal period each day. Duties may involve work in extreme weather. Further, as requested by the Assistant Training Manager, the incumbent will be asked to assist with Department-related tasks out of the DFW metropolitan area, with or without notice.
Incumbents are required to follow the Personal Appearance Guidelines for Field Employees as outlined in the Employee Policy Handbook, shall receive an FR allowance, and are eligible to participate in the work boot program. Incumbents should wear clothing items from the approved FR vendor daily. When required by Safe Work Practices, long-sleeve FR clothing is required.
Incumbents may choose to participate in the on-call rotation with investigators and respond to incidents to collect information after hours. Such participation entitles the incumbent to a Standard Utility vehicle that may be used to commute to and from work daily as well respond to incidents onsite. Incumbents may not use vehicles for personal use without express permission from the Learning Group Manager.
Pay will be determined by the technical skill set of the incumbent; not all incumbents may qualify for the entire pay range listed.
Position Summary – An incumbent is responsible for the carrying out Learning Group related tasks as directed by the Assistant Training Manager. Such tasks will include, though not be limited to:
- Conducting Training Classes, including completion of class paperwork, for which the incumbent has verified field experience
- Assistance with the research, development, and presentation of Training Class materials for which the incumbent has verified field experience
- Assistance with the verification of work task competence
- Assistance with the research, development, and presentation of employee safety meetings
- Collaboration with other Standard Utility employees to produce specified results
- Assistance with other safety, training, or learning related tasks as requested
- Assistance with maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, including light cleaning of classroom and general areas in the Training building and yard.

- Based on the nature of work at Standard Utility, even if not driving company vehicles, all employees are required to have a valid Texas Driver License in good standing throughout their employment with us.
- Effective at facilitating and teaching lesser skilled individuals how to assess hazards, perform work safely, and perform quality work in line with federal/state guidelines and client construction standards and expectations.

- Desired Experience – The incumbent for this position will, ideally, have experience, education, training, or a combination of the three in at lease the following areas:
- Experience with a wide variety of electrical utility tasks and settings, preferably including both primary and secondary voltages in the underground and overhead settings (or both)
- Experience effectively facilitating and leading meetings involving individuals at various levels in an organization, including, though not limited to at least mid-level, exempt managers
- Experienced participating in the design, development and implementation of employee training programs or presentations (Safety Metric or Core Value Team participation, etc.)
- Understanding of OSHA, NFPA, NEC and other applicable Safety regulations and professional standards
- Conflict resolution (both internal and external)
- Work in a fast-paced, intense environment
Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Must be able to lift 35 pounds unassisted. Sitting for prolonged periods of time, keyboarding, walking on uneven terrain, manipulate hands to demonstrate tools and or use of equipment, bending/stooping to stock and or re-stock facility supplies, lift/carry/push/pull at least 35 pounds to move demonstration equipment to areas around the facility.
