The Opportunity
The VP of Finance provides leadership of the company’s financial, accounting, and information technology functions. As a member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Finance serves as a strategic partner in shaping corporate direction, ensuring financial discipline, and enabling sustainable growth in a privately held and operated manufacturing organization.
This role oversees Accounting, FP&A, tax, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and the IT organization (30 professionals across software development, ERP, infrastructure, and help desk). The VP of Finance is accountable for safeguarding the company’s financial health, corporate governance, and supporting long-term business success.
This role is expected to work in a hybrid fashion at our Palmyra, WI headquarters.
What You’ll Do
Enterprise Financial Leadership
- Serve as the top financial officer, partnering directly with the President/Owner(s) and peers on the Executive team to set strategy, prepare growth targets and corresponding resource allocation, and guide decision making.
- Prepare and present financial performance updates, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Executive team, Board of Directors, and shareholders.
- Provide financial oversight of major corporate initiatives, strategic projects, and cross-functional programs.
Accounting, Compliance & Governance
- Own GAAP-compliant financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.
- Establish and enforce strong internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect company assets.
- Lead external audits and tax compliance while collaborating with Legal to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Operational Finance & Cost Management
- Ensure timely, accurate monthly/quarterly/annual closes.
- Oversee cost accounting, FP&A, inventory accounting, margin analysis, tax accounting and payroll.
- Collaborate with the commercial teams to propose pricing strategies and pricing governance, ROI evaluation, and profitability.
- Build and maintain cash forecasts, optimize working capital, and manage banking relationships.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Decision Support
- Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term scenario modeling.
- Deliver financial and operational dashboards, enabling self-serve analytics for leaders.
- Partner with business leaders to improve performance, efficiency, and accountability.
Technology & Digital Transformation
- Oversee IT strategy and execution, ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable systems.
- Drive Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), master data governance, and business intelligence.
- Advance automation, reporting, and analytics capabilities to improve speed and insight across the business.
Team & Leadership Development
- Build and lead high-performing Finance, Accounting, and IT teams, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and excellence.
- Develop and mentor leaders to ensure strong succession and cross-functional collaboration.
- Champion financial literacy across the organization to elevate decision-making at all levels.
What You Bring
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field required
- Master’s Degree preferred
Certifications:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA (one required; combination preferred)
Experience:
- 12–15 years of progressive finance leadership, including senior-level accountability in manufacturing
- 7 years of experience in a lead financial planning role
- Experience working in a privately held organization helpful
- Experience overseeing IT and/or ERP/MRP systems in complex environments preferred
- Experience in corporate accounting
- Strong record of working directly with CEOs, Boards, investors, or owners.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Proven ownership of end-to-end finance and accounting operations, including cost accounting and GAAP close.
- Knowledge of perspective, data relationships, and trends to make analysis and recommendations possible
