Standard Laboratories, Inc. is a laboratory services firm providing comprehensive coal quality processing and analytical services to coal mining and coal processing industries. Standard Laboratories, Inc. operates full service analytical and processing labs providing around the clock coal quality technical support to the coal industry. We are currently accepting and reviewing applications coal analytical laboratory technician position.
Primary Job Functions
- Conduct laboratory analysis of coal samples for multiple constituents including but not limited to; moisture, ash, sulfur, calorific content, volatile matter, fixed carbon and free swelling index utilizing laboratory instruments, gravimetric (weighing) plus other laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Competently operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments, such as infrared detection sulfur analyzers, oxygen bomb calorimeters, analytical balances plus other laboratory equipment required in performing routine lab analysis.
- Conduct continuous quality control measures within the analytical method to demonstrate and document data validity.
- Organize daily workload plus analysis schedule to meet data availability and reporting deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and general work environment.
- Successful applicants will be trained to perform the job duties and functions.
Required Work Schedule
1) Day Shift Full Time Position, Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 am start, overtime as required.
2) Day Shift Full Time Position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am start, overtime as required.
3) Day Shift Part Time Position, (Flexible 3 to 4 days), 7:00 am start.
Qualifications
- Laboratory experience is preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, achieve productivity standards, meet data availability deadlines and quality standards.
- Reasonable computer skills as laboratory instruments are computer driven.
- Solid and demonstrated work ethic - must be a contributing and productive employee.
Compensation
Hourly Rate; Commensurate with demonstrated ability, knowledge & experience.
- Vacation after the first year of employment, 5 days per year.
- Vacation after second year of employment, 10 days per year.
