The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting the clinical operations at Standard Healthcare Plus. Working under the supervision of licensed mental health providers and medical staff, the MA provides both administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient, compassionate, and effective patient care. This position requires sensitivity to the unique needs of individuals with mental health and behavioral conditions.
Position Overview:
- Assist psychiatric providers and therapists with patient care, including intake assessments, vitals, and medication reconciliation.
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
- Administer injections (e.g., psychotropic medications), as directed by licensed providers and within scope of practice.
- Monitor and report patient behavior or concerns to clinical staff.
- Provide basic patient education under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Assist with crisis intervention procedures as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule and confirm appointments; manage provider calendars.
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately and timely.
- Process prescription refill requests and coordinate with pharmacies.
- Assist with prior authorizations, insurance verifications, and referrals.
- Collect and record patient data, such as mental health history and current symptoms.
Coordination & Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and external medical or behavioral health entities.
- Participate in case management meetings or multidisciplinary team discussions as appropriate.
