Job Summary
We are looking for a Director, Banks and Broker Dealer Coverage, Americas to join our FI Coverage team.
This role is responsible for the Banks and Broker-Dealer (BBD) client coverage includes all aspects of client development, new business generation, setting the broader strategy for the portfolio, and cross-selling Standard Chartered’ s solutions and products. This role is directly responsible for global clients and requires extensive experience and in-depth industry and product knowledge to provide effective coverage. This portfolio is to cover inbound Greater China Banks and Broker Dealers. The banker will work in close coordination with his/her peers and senior management in the US and SCB’s other geographies to support clients and deliver the bank’s products and services across the footprint.
Our Financial Institutions (FI) Bankers are responsible for the strategic coverage of large banks, broker dealers and non-bank financial institution clients. They use their deep industry expertise to develop and execute the client account plans, across the entire client lifecycle. We’re looking for people with a client-first mindset to deliver appropriate products and services for our clients, and are confident working with diverse teams across markets, cultures and languages.
About our Banking and Coverage team
Our Banking and Coverage team owns and leads the management and development of our Client Relationships globally. They work across our global network with product partners to deliver working capital, financing, trade, cash, and market solutions for our clients. The solutions include varied products and services, from sustainable trade finance to credit derivatives, to mergers and acquisitions advisory.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the origination and client relationship management for Americas BBD clients and prospects, including setting the overall client strategic, maintain a deep understanding of the clients’ needs and actively engage senior executives within clients to build relationships overtime. Clients will be inbound banks and broker dealers from across the Greater China network with a goal to build the Americas business with clients from other core geographies.
- Act as the subject matter expert and provide sector content and insights that enhances strategic dialogues with clients, Some highly relevant themes are Correspondent Banking, Markets, GCM, Sustainable Finance and liquidity.
- be an individual contributor but should be significantly collaborative with senior bankers across the network in order to drive local conversations for inbound business.
- Expected to come into the team with fresh views, dynamic ideas, and appetite to mentor to the junior staff on the team.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers and Product Managers to provide comprehensive coverage, product and deal execution, for mergers and acquisitions, private equity placement, and acquisition financing.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives to support business growth.
- Develop and implement client strategies for banks, broker dealers and non-bank financial institution clients.
- Competitor pricing reviews and benchmarking.
- Originate new client opportunities, providing tailored, structured client solutions.
- Partner with the Sales, Products, Structuring and Implementation teams to develop and deliver products.
- Operate rigorous account planning and management, with call reports and deal pipelines.
- Continually develop industry and product knowledge, sustainable finance, emerging technologies, implications of the changing economic landscape for clients, and opportunities for business growth.
- Consult with Risk, Legal & Compliance teams to maintain credit worthy portfolios, complying with regulatory requirements and Group bank policies.
Skills and Experience
- Being a trusted advisor, providing outstanding account management support, developing and nurturing long term relationships.
- Provide superior client experience, understanding client behaviours and preferences to shape client strategies.
- Analysis of financial reports and statements to evaluate performance and investment suitability.
- Advanced knowledge of Correspondent Banking, Fixed Income / FX.
- Financial Markets and Transaction Banking industry knowledge including formulating perspectives for key client industries including trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters.
- Risk management.
- Financial services regulatory experience
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 175,000 USD to 218,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
