Job Description
The estimator is responsible for calculating the cost of a project by analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to determine the required materials, labor, and equipment. Key duties include gathering quotes from suppliers, preparing bids, and presenting cost estimates to management and clients. An estimator also collaborates with various professionals, such as architects and engineers, and maintains records to ensure projects stay within budget.
Standard Boiler Tank & Testing Services is looking for a detail-oriented Estimator who will create accurate estimates for our above ground storage tank & millwright projects.
The Estimator should have excellent numerical skills, grammatical awareness and an analytical mindset.
Responsibilities include:
- Review and analyze the project and its requirements.
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering request for quotes, drawings, specifications and related documents.
- Identifies labor, material and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents.
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
- Collect and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors.
- Analyze risk and develop estimates based on the Estimators analysis results.
- Participate in planning of schedules, manpower needs, etc., providing consultation.
- Maintain the cost-quality relation, pursuing the maximum savings for the company.
- Generate continuous improvement projects for processes related to purchases.
- Work with accounting on any A/P invoice discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Must be proficient in English writing and grammar.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel.
- Work, Outlook and Project. Adobe preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the above ground storage tank industry.
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
- Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment .
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60, $75,000.00 per year
