As an Operations Director, you will be responsible for daily management of all facility and personnel requirements at the Regional Turbine Center or related satellite location, involving work on gas turbine engine powered aircraft. You will manage, plan, direct and coordinate overall business unit to conform with established goals and objectives.

What you'll do:

  • Management of all Regional Turbine Center daily activities conducted by the company's Washington, PA Regional Turbine Center, including planning, leading, organizing and controlling such areas as: work assignments, performance management, quality control standards, facility and asset management, and budgets.

  • Staffing and training of the Regional Turbine Center positions with qualified and competent persons.

  • Overall implementation and maintenance of the tools, procedures and systems required to effectively perform all required repair/maintenance activities, or disassembly & inspection for spare parts inventory needs.

  • The deployment of Regional Turbine Center personnel to temporary assignments at customer facilities or in the field.

  • Ensuring that the persons given a particular assignment are fully qualified to perform, supervise, inspect and return to service the work assigned.

  • Act as primary managerial contact point between customers, sales managers, & other StandardAero operating groups.

  • Providing proper tools, equipment and training for the Regional Turbine Center personnel.

  • Oversee the activities of the Regional Turbine Center personnel to ensure that their work practices are in conformance with regulatory guidance, customer, manufacturer and company policies and guidelines.

  • Works closely with areas such as Sales, Operations, Engineering, QC, Materials and Finance to ensure both customer & company requirements are met or exceeded.

  • Reviews analytical reports of such information as: log books; work-orders; product/engine input; gross margin analysis; invoice review; and service bulletin/O.E.M. review.

  • Assist customers with billing/financial terms, coordinating with production to establish engine completion dates, and preparation/presentation of overhaul or repair cost analysis.

  • Provide for appropriate inspections following completion of engine/component repairs and modifications following installation into the aircraft for final acceptance, airworthiness certifications and release to service.

  • May act as the Chief Facility Inspector when required.

  • Maintain effective and positive managerial and interpersonal working and problem-solving relationships with all internal departments and levels of personnel, customers, agents, vendors and FAA personnel.
  • Provides direct management and oversight of supervisors and handling problems in Regional Turbine Center environments while representing the company on-site, using tact and diplomacy, where communication with customers and other company personnel is vital to successful completion of assignments.
  • Makes managerial decisions involving both established policies/procedures and sensitive customer issues which may require further consultation with executives in the operations, sales and service functions.
  • Work practices and procedures are defined by FAA Repair Station documents, OEM technical manuals and customer specifications.
  • Most work is in a normal office environment but there are frequent periods of exposure to hazardous areas, both in hangars and on ramps. Environment may include both outside weather conditions and extended periods of elevated noise exposure due to engine testing. Hangars, ramps and engine shop environments, including: hoists, heavy parts, chemicals and fluids with use of precision instruments, stringent housekeeping and work area safety regulations and practices to observe and maintain.

Position Requirements:

  • A&P license with extensive technical knowledge of specific types and models of aircraft turbine engines.

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • At least 10 years of leadership experience.

  • Ability to understand, follow, interpret and apply company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.

  • Several years of experience in an operational leadership role with delivered and sustainable results.

  • Must possess strong and effective written and verbal communications skills.

  • Near clarity of vision required for close up engine and chart/document or report analysis.

  • Reaching: extending hands and arms in any direction.

  • Handling: seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand(s).

  • Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to convey detailed spoken instruction to other workers, customers or agents accurately, loudly or quickly.

  • Hearing: effectively perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.

  • May occasionally exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred, but must at least be a high school graduate with a level of technical vocational training and knowledge normally achieved through graduation from a university, trade school or military aircraft maintenance program, or an equivalent apprenticeship program.
  • Must be able to travel between 10-15 % of the time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Pratt & Whitney turbine engine (PW500 and PT6 all models) experience highly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), SAP and Oracle.

  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems.
