The Role:
We're looking for an Underwriter Associate to join our growing E&S Personal Lines Underwriting team. This is a launchpad role for someone early in their career, who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a mission-driven company at the intersection of climate and insurance.
You’ll work alongside experienced underwriters and gain hands-on exposure to our underwriting processes, risk evaluation models, broker communications, and real-time quoting workflows. Core Responsibilities:
This role is designed for someone proactive, curious, and excited to be in a fast-moving environment. You’ll:
Support the underwriting team in evaluating new insurance applications
Assist in reviewing property data, risk characteristics, and quote submissions
Communicate with brokers to gather missing information and ensure smooth workflows
Help document decisions, track quote volumes, and maintain operational accuracy
Learn how to interpret climate-driven models and risk scoring tools
Contribute to ongoing projects that improve underwriting efficiency and service
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
Demonstrated interest in insurance, climate resilience, or financial services
Eagerness to learn quickly and take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sharp attention to detail
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset paired with strong personal accountability

Full-time, based in San Francisco
You'll report to the Chief Underwriting Officer and work closely with our broker and ops teams

Compensation:
The base salary for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. Everyone on the team is an owner: all full time employees get competitive equity.
