Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable CDL Class A Yard Driver for an industrial operation in Rogers, Arkansas. This position works primarily within the facility yard, moving, spotting, and staging trailers, products, and materials to support daily shipping, receiving, and production operations.

This is primarily a yard-based driving position rather than a traditional over-the-road role. The ideal candidate has Class A driving experience, a strong safety record, and is comfortable working in an active industrial environment around metal and scrap materials.

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid CDL Class A license required
• Clean driving record required
• Previous Class A commercial driving experience
• Yard Driver experience preferred
• Ability to safely maneuver and position trailers
• Knowledge of basic load securement procedures
• Ability to complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Strong attention to safety and detail
• Ability to follow dispatch and yard instructions accurately
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable working in an active industrial yard environment

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate Class A commercial equipment within the facility yard
• Spot trailers in designated locations
• Reposition trailers and loads throughout the property
• Stage products and materials according to operational needs
• Support daily shipping and receiving activities
• Coordinate trailer movement with dispatch and yard personnel
• Move loads according to production requirements
• Perform required pre-trip inspections
• Complete post-trip equipment inspections
• Inspect equipment for potential safety or maintenance concerns
• Secure loads when required
• Verify trailers and loads are positioned correctly
• Maintain accurate trailer-movement logs
• Complete basic transportation and yard documentation
• Follow all applicable DOT requirements
• Follow company transportation and yard safety procedures
• Communicate equipment or material concerns promptly
• Maintain safe and organized yard operations
• Perform additional yard-driving duties as assigned

Yard Driving Responsibilities

The majority of this position focuses on moving equipment and materials within the facility.

Responsibilities may include:

• Spotting trailers
• Repositioning trailers
• Staging loads
• Moving product throughout the yard
• Positioning trailers for loading or unloading
• Supporting Shipping and Receiving
• Coordinating with yard personnel
• Maintaining efficient trailer flow throughout the operation

Candidates should be confident maneuvering Class A equipment in active industrial areas.

Shipping, Receiving & Production Support

• Position trailers for incoming and outgoing materials
• Move loads according to Shipping and Receiving requirements
• Stage materials for production operations
• Coordinate movement priorities with appropriate personnel
• Help prevent delays by maintaining efficient trailer and material flow
• Communicate changes or concerns to dispatch and yard personnel

Vehicle & Equipment Inspections

• Perform required pre-trip inspections
• Complete post-trip inspections
• Inspect tires, brakes, lights, and applicable equipment
• Identify potential mechanical or safety concerns
• Report equipment problems promptly
• Maintain required inspection documentation
• Help ensure assigned equipment remains safe and operational

Load Securement

• Inspect loads before movement
• Secure materials when required
• Verify loads are stable before transportation
• Identify potential load-shift concerns
• Follow applicable DOT and company securement procedures
• Maintain awareness when working with heavy metal and industrial materials

Documentation Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate movement logs
• Record trailer and load movements
• Complete applicable yard documentation
• Maintain basic transportation records
• Communicate discrepancies or missing information
• Follow company recordkeeping procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Yard Driver experience
• Class A industrial driving experience
• Metal or scrap yard experience
• Steel or metals-industry experience
• Construction material hauling experience
• Industrial transportation experience
• Trailer spotting experience
• Shipping and receiving experience
• Load securement experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely enter and exit Class A equipment repeatedly throughout the workday
• Ability to perform vehicle and trailer inspections
• Frequent walking, bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, and pulling as required
• Ability to handle applicable load-securement equipment
• Comfortable performing physically active yard responsibilities
• Ability to safely work around trucks, trailers, metal materials, and industrial equipment
• Ability to wear all required PPE

Work Environment

• Active industrial yard environment in Rogers, Arkansas
• Regular work around trucks, trailers, metal products, and scrap materials
• Primarily yard-based Class A driving and trailer movement
• Frequent interaction with Shipping, Receiving, Production, dispatch, and yard personnel
• Strong emphasis on safe equipment operation, accurate trailer positioning, productivity, and dependable attendance
