Position Title: Family/School Liaison
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and interested in working with families. Good communication and personal skills and experience with Human Service agency (or agencies) preferred but not required.
Reports to: Coordinator, Family Resource Center
Job Goal: To assist family participants to identify strengths and needs, and plan for services, and serve to assist communication between families and services (social, health, and educational). To represent the needs of family participants on the Family Service Center Team, and provide a parent-to-parent element of Family Resource Center. Toi promote understanding and enhance family/school relationships to maximize responsiveness to the needs of families and children, and supports nurturing family relationship for all children.
Responsibilities:
Serve as an initial contact for family participants, provide support and information, needs identification, assistive planning, referral and advocacy for participants.
Provide services through home visits, regularly scheduled service hours and site appointments, and scheduled events, on an individual and group basis, according to Family Resource Center objectives as a collaborative team member.
Perform duties necessary for optimal program compliance with objectives, state regulations, Board of Education Policies, and Advisory Council recommendations.
Promote Family Resource Center Team and interagency relationships that assure information sharing, effective and efficient cross-agency referrals, and promote collaboration.
Attend regular staff meetings; attend and assist trainings according to staff development plan, and assist family participant training or facilitation as scheduled by the Coordinator.
Promote a positive, welcoming atmosphere for participants, and positive reciprocal relationships between families and schools; assist to implement community awareness and support activities.
Identify, use, and share resource and referral information to assist and advocate for families to obtain services they need.
Implement outreach activities for families who may benefit from services offered, including potential participants and participants who have not maintained contact with Family Resource Center.
Assure participant confidentiality and rights according to federal and state statures, and assure policies for parental consent.
Collect formative and summative data, and recommend data-based program changes.
Perform additional duties as recommended by the Family Resource Center Coordinator.
