Position Summary:
The Junior Furniture and Decorative Arts Specialist focuses on supporting senior specialists in the valuation, acquisition, cataloging and sale of the art and furniture pieces. This position plays an important role in ensuring the smooth operations of the auction house and contributing to its success in the antique furniture and decorative arts market.
Minimum Requirements:
● A bachelor's degree in art history, fine arts, decorative arts, or a related field is required.
● A strong understanding of antique furniture and decorative arts, including different styles, periods, and materials.
● Familiarity with art market trends, auction processes, and valuation methodologies.
● 2 years of experience in a related role, such as working in an auction house, art gallery, museum, or art consultancy firm.
● Proficiency in conducting art historical research and using various resources, including databases, catalogs, and archival materials, assessing the authenticity, provenance, and value of decorative art pieces.
● Strong diplomatic written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with clients, collaborating with colleagues, and other stakeholders.
● A keen eye for detail and aesthetic sense.
● Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management systems.
● Proficiency with social media platforms
● Familiarity with specialized auction house software or online platforms for cataloging preferred.
