Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Die Setter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and adjusting dies in various machines to ensure efficient production processes. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Die Setter will play a crucial role in maintaining quality standards and optimizing production efficiency.
Skills Required:
Must be familiar with a Cincinnati 550-ton press.
Perform PMs as required.
Keeps tools and supplies organized according to shop-floor criteria.
Operating the press.
Adjusting the press involves calibrating various settings, such as pressure, compaction speed, and dwell time, to achieve the desired density and dimensions of the compacted part.
As a press operator, your role in inspecting parts is crucial. You'll be responsible for ensuring the compacted parts' dimensions, weights, and density meet specifications.
Your constant review of parts processed after the delube oven to make necessary adjustments is a key part of our quality control process.
If any problems arise during the compaction process or delube oven, such as defects or malfunctions, troubleshoot and implement solutions; if the problem continues, stop production for nonconforming or suspect product.
Production records, including the quantity of pieces produced, scrap, suspect material, and any issues encountered, along with adjustments made, are maintained.
Fill out survey sheets as required for the tooling used.
Assist in sorting and rework of discrepant preforms/forgings as required.
Performing daily 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) as required.
Perform tap & go on shift change.
Participate in maintenance activities as required.
Active participation in improvement suggestions or projects.
Experience Required:
Must be shift flexible, including weekends as required.
Powder metal experience is mandatory for this role.
Analytical skills.
Powder metal compacting (5 years preferred).
Manufacturing experience in metal forging is preferred.
Hands-on experience with mechanical/hydraulic presses (Cincinnati 550) for powdered metal compacting.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Knowledge of forging presses, die setup, material flow, and robot knowledge.
Familiarity with the metallurgical properties of ferrous/non-ferrous powders and forgings.
Blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Quality inspection tools: micrometers, hardness testers, CMM.
Education Required:
High School or GED equivalent.
Additional Information:
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire role, which entirely depends on performance and business needs.
Powder metal experience is mandatory for this role.
