Role Overview
We are seeking a SQL Server Database Engineer to support and operate our QA and production database environments in partnership with engineering and infrastructure teams. This role focuses on SQL performance tuning, monitoring, and operational reliability.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on SQL Server experience, enjoys troubleshooting and optimization, and is comfortable supporting production systems with support from senior engineering team members. This is a hybrid role, primarily remote, with one in-office day per week. The position follows a standard Monday-Friday schedule with occasional on-call coverage as part of a shared rotation.
What Success Looks Like in This Role

Reliably supporting QA and production SQL Server environments

Collaborating with engineers to improve database performance and reliability

Resolving common performance and operational issues independently, with support as needed

Participating effectively in monitoring, on-call, and incident response

Continuously improving skills and contributing to documentation and best practices
Key Responsibilities
Database Performance

Analyze and tune queries, indexes, and stored procedures to ensure reliable performance.

Monitor database health, job execution, and performance trends; respond to alerts and incidents.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with application engineers to review schema changes and optimize queries.

Assist with database deployments and CI/CD processes.

Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Gain exposure to Snowflake and MongoDB environments as needed.
Skills and Qualifications

3–6 years of experience supporting SQL Server in a production environment.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem and/or Azure).

Proficiency with T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query tuning.

Experience with database monitoring, maintenance, and incident support.

Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell or similar).

Understanding of database security and access controls.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
