Job Summary:
As a Dedicated Aide, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to students with special needs, ensuring they have a positive and inclusive learning experience. Working closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators, you will help create an environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your primary responsibility will be to provide one-on-one support and accommodations to students with diverse learning requirements, helping them access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Support: Work with students on an individual basis or in small groups to provide academic, behavioral, and emotional support as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement lesson plans and modify materials to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Behavioral Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment by implementing behavioral management strategies, reinforcing positive behavior, and addressing challenging behaviors when they arise.
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, as required by individual students' needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviors, and interventions, and communicate this information to the special education team and parents as necessary.
- Communication: Foster effective communication between students, teachers, parents, and other members of the school community to ensure the best possible support for students with special needs.
- Inclusion: Promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in all aspects of school life, including extracurricular activities and social interactions.
- Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, including during transportation to and from school if applicable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certifications).
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of inclusion and diversity.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to follow IEPs and adapt to the changing needs of students.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
