About the Role
A well established manufacturer in West Knoxville is hiring a Controller. This is a working manager role, not a sit back and delegate seat. You will lead and train a small accounting team while staying hands on in the daily work yourself. The company has meaningful improvements underway on a tight timeline, so success here means staying steady in a fast paced environment and knowing the process well enough to jump in wherever you are needed.
The right person is someone who takes pride in cleaning things up, building better processes, and partnering closely with a team that works hard and enjoys the day while they do it.
What You Will Do
- Own account reconciliation, data accuracy, and overall efficiency across the accounting function
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Lead, train, and develop a small team while carrying a hands on workload yourself
- Identify and drive improvements, bringing new ideas and structure where they are needed
- Handle tax notices and see them through to resolution
- Support the team directly when workloads back up, with a real understanding of the process
What We Are Looking For
- Manufacturing accounting background
- Proven ownership of the close process in a current or recent role
- Demonstrated initiative, such as leading a move from average to standard costing
- Experience managing tax notices through to resolution
- A track record of what you have built or improved within a company, not only maintained
- The ability to lead a team and still roll up your sleeves in a high pace environment
Preferred
- CPA or CMA
- Experience with Epicor ERP
- Experience in a family owned or closely held manufacturing environment
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
