Job Title: Estimating Manager
The Estimating Manager provides centralized estimating support across all operational districts. This role is responsible for accurately forecasting project and material costs, collaborating with cross-functional teams—including construction, procurement, and project management—to ensure comprehensive and competitive estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of estimators and assistant estimators.
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and determine initial production rates.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to define scope and requirements.
Review vendor and subcontractor bids for fairness and accuracy.
Coordinate with project managers to align schedules and ensure timely project delivery.
Monitor project progress and adjust estimates or schedules as needed.
Estimate material costs and labor hours for various project types.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and local regulations.
Maintain quality control by reviewing completed work against standards.
Keep thorough records of project documentation, including contracts, bids, and correspondence.
Develop initial resource plans and solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Establish preliminary project schedules and timelines.
Promote and uphold organizational values in all aspects of work.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical training and experience.
Minimum 10 years of experience in estimating, cost control, or engineering, with at least 4 years in estimating similar facility construction.
Strong knowledge of estimating methodologies, engineering disciplines, and cost control systems.
Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex estimating efforts across multiple project types.
Skills & Tools
Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret and act on management reports and technical documents.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
