This full-time, on-site role focuses on pioneering high-stakes, technically complex research and development initiatives engineered to safeguard vital national interests.

Operating as an essential strategic collaborator, the selected candidate will guide multidisciplinary teams from foundational, first-principle analysis through to the prototyping and live testing of integrated maritime technologies. What You’ll Do

• Champion the formulation, strategic alignment, and operational execution of pioneering maritime system initiatives.

• Drive departmental growth and long-term strategic evolution within the specialized sensing and communications domain.

• Architect comprehensive, multi-disciplinary proposals aimed at delivering novel technological answers to complex defense problems.

• Lead cross-functional project engineering teams to conquer sophisticated system architecture hurdles while satisfying rigorous performance metrics.

• Mentor and elevate junior technical personnel, fostering their growth in both engineering execution and project management methods.

• Synthesize fundamental physics and mathematical frameworks to engineer high-integrity solutions for undersea environments.

• Maximize the success of fieldwork by orchestrating the complete design, safety, and operational deployment of complex at-sea technology experiments.

What You Bring

Required Core Competencies

• Masters Degree or Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or an equivalent technical field.

• Minimum of 8 to 20 years of total professional experience, featuring at least 5 years of direct engineering practice collaborating alongside senior leadership to build custom client-focused solutions.

• Proven capacity to deliver granular technical contributions while simultaneously steering multifaceted, high-level project tasks.

• Superb consultative communication skills, with an established history of interfacing directly with Project Managers, Integrated Product Team Leads, and external stakeholders.

• Direct experience engineering, configuring, or operating Acoustic Communication Systems.

• Practical, baseline knowledge of Digital Circuits and Analog Circuits.

Preferred Highlights

• A decade or more of comprehensive experience architecting, planning, and managing advanced technology incubation programs.

• Demonstrated mastery over programmatic lifecycle metrics, including Resource Coordination, Budgetary Oversight, Schedule Management, and milestone delivery.

• Prior leadership background within United States Navy Undersea Warfare Operations or defense-focused naval commands.

• Experience managing mature workflows across the entire Technology Lifecycle, spanning basic Science And Technology research through final System Deployment.

• Deep expertise building intricate subsea platforms integrating Custom Printed Circuit Boards, Embedded Software, Data Acquisition Systems, and Signal Processing methodologies.

Compensation & Total Rewards

• Annual Base Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 (Commensurate with experience)
