Job Description
Primary Purpose
The Elementary teacher is responsible for implementing the district's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated in accordance with the district's goals, vision, policies and procedures. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; responsible for carrying out a variety of student monitoring; and modifies instructional activities as required. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide students with appropriate in-person and distance or virtual instruction in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Valid Texas ESL Certification-ESL Certification English/ESL Program (Required)
Master's degree in early childhood education (PK & Kinder - Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
Ability to collect and analyze data for instruction and program evaluation purposes
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational skills

Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance or virtual learning to fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation, as required. Prepare lessons in instructional formats that accommodate differences in individual student needs.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and resources for distance or virtual learning that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Coordinates and plans with team members, when deemed appropriate.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Administers the classroom to create an environment conducive to learning.
- Integrates technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Provide flexibility for individual and group activities.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the goals of the campus and school district.
- Create and maintain a physical and virtual classroom (hybrid) environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Create a classroom environment that integrates and celebrates each student' cultural values, ethnic background, and home language.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Maintain accurate attendance records as required by campus, district, and state regulations.
- Supervise behavior and safety of students in classes, between classes and during school-related activities on and off campus.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains a positive, accepting attitude in working with students.
- Practices positive discipline techniques that help students gain self-control
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- When delivering instruction remotely, be available by phone, email, or video conferencing between regular school hours, to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
- When delivering instruction remotely, communicate with students or parents for a minimum of one time(s) per week via email, website, phone, or video conference.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Work with counselors, administrators, parents, and other staff members to place students in the most effective educational setting
- Instruct students in school safety and emergency drill procedures
- Be available by phone, email or video conferencing between regular school hours to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
- Provide ongoing feedback of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
