Parks Maintenance Attendant - Temporary

Job Description

Performs responsible semi-skilled work in the cleanliness, repair, maintenance, and care of the County's park grounds and related facilities. Responsible for opening, closing, and monitoring facility operations and assisting with activities associated with operations.

The hiring range for this position is from $15.66/hour to $19.58/hour based on experience.

Examples of Duties

• Prepares facilities for use, performs custodial and maintenance work, monitors activities, and enforces rules;
• Performs building and grounds maintenance and landscape work;
• Operates light automotive or power equipment in connection with tasks;
• Performs custodial and maintenance tasks to include stocking and cleaning of restroom facilities;
• Marks athletic fields to prescribed standards;
• Runs errands, picks up and delivers supplies, equipment, and materials as needed;
• Performs litter control and ensures trash is dumped;
• Prepares facilities for use;
• Monitors activities and enforces rules;
• Opens, sets up, and closes parks and facilities;
• Responsible for unlocking/locking school and park facilities;
• Works with Park Supervisors to verify usage of site assets;
• Informs visitors of park rules and regulations and arranges for removal of violators;
• Reports accidents, vandalism, and thefts;
• Reports unsafe conditions to the Park Maintenance Supervisor;
• Enters hours worked into a computer-based time and attendance software program;
• Performs related tasks as required.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and techniques of the standard building and landscape trades;
• Some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class;
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
• Ability to use common hand tools;
• Ability to use proper personal protective equipment;
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment;
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants, and the general public;
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline.
  
  

Education and Experience

Graduation from high school and some experience in working with the public including working as a Facility Attendant or relevant experience with grounds maintenance.
