Field IT Support Technician
Position Summary
We are looking for a Field IT Support Technician to provide onsite technical support at customer locations. The role involves basic IT and network troubleshooting, connecting to network equipment, and assisting with installation and configuration tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit customer sites as scheduled to provide onsite IT support.
- Connect to network devices using a console cable and terminal software.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting and identify connected devices using an IP scanner.
- Assist with the setup and basic configuration of network equipment.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
- Work with the remote support team to resolve customer issues.
- Record the work completed and report any issues that require further attention.
- Follow company procedures and maintain a professional approach when working at customer sites.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Windows, and networking.
- Familiarity with PuTTY or similar terminal software.
- Understanding of IP addressing and basic network troubleshooting.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
Equipment Requirements
The technician should have:
- A laptop running Windows 11 or Windows 10 (minimum).
- PuTTY (or similar terminal software) installed.
- IP Scanner software installed.
- A compatible console cable for connecting to network devices.
Preferred
- Basic knowledge of routers and switches.
- Previous IT support, help desk, or field support experience is an advantage but not required.
- Relevant IT certifications or technical training are a plus.
Work Schedule
- Onsite visits will be scheduled based on customer requirements.
- Availability for Tuesday or Thursday at 10:00 AM or 12:30 PM is preferred.
