I'm recruiting for a direct-hire HSE Engineer opportunity with an established manufacturing company in the Hagerstown, MD area.
About the Role
I'm looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on in a manufacturing environment and wants to make an impact on safety culture, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement. This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your entire day behind a desk—you’ll work closely with plant leadership and employees on the production floor.
Responsibilities
- Support OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance initiatives
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Investigate incidents and near misses and perform root cause analysis
- Develop and track corrective and preventative actions
- Conduct employee safety training
- Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 programs
- Maintain required HSE documentation and reporting
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend practical solutions
- Partner with operations to strengthen safety programs and employee engagement
- Support emergency preparedness and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Required Skills
- Previous EHS/HSE experience, preferably within manufacturing or an industrial environment
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
- ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 exposure is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with everyone from production employees to senior leadership
- A proactive, hands-on approach to workplace safety
Pay range and compensation package
$68,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience
