Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-orientedCustoms Entry Writerto join our international logistics team. This position is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and processingimport documentation and customs declarationsto ensure accurate and timely clearance of shipments.
The ideal candidate will have1-2 years of import or customer broker experience, a strong understanding of U.S. import procedures, and hands-on experience preparingcustoms declarations.CargoWise experience is required, and experience withCCS (Cargo Community System)is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submitimport entries and customs declarationsaccurately and timely.
- Process import documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and other supporting documents.
- Review shipment information to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to entry submission.
- Maintain a strong understanding ofU.S. import procedures, customs requirements, and compliance regulations.
- Review HTS classifications, country of origin, values, quantities, and other information needed for accurate customs entry processing.
- Enter and maintain shipment and customs information withinCargoWise.
- Monitor entry status and communicate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and internal teams regarding documentation or clearance issues.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve missing or inaccurate import documentation.
- Assist with customs holds, requests for information, entry corrections, and other clearance-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with customers regarding import shipments and documentation.
- Manage multiple shipments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in import documentation, customs entry writing, customer broker operations, or a similar international logistics role.
- Hands-on experience preparing customs declarations and import entries.
- Strong understanding ofimport processes and customs documentation.
- CargoWise experience is required.
- Proficiency with MicrosoftExcel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple shipments and deadlines.
Preferred / Plus Qualifications
- CCS experience or certification is a plus.
- Experience withACE/Automated Commercial Environment.
- Knowledge of HTS classifications, tariff requirements, and country-of-origin rules.
- Experience working with international customers, carriers, freight forwarders, or customs brokerage teams.
- Experience with air and ocean import operations.
- Familiarity with customs compliance and entry documentation requirements.
