Project Engineer – Power Generation Procurement / RFP Support

Location: Hybrid – Hicksville, NY area

Schedule: 3–4 days onsite per week

Type: Contract | W2 Only

Pay: $45–$50/hr W2

Target Start: July 2026


We are seeking a Project Engineer with strong power generation, transmission, procurement, and RFP/RFQ experience to support major energy resource and generation-related initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands how power generation assets operate and can contribute quickly to procurement, proposal evaluation, vendor coordination, and project execution efforts.


This role is ideal for an engineering professional who has supported power generation, transmission, resource procurement, energy capacity, or large-scale generation equipment projects and is comfortable working across technical, commercial, procurement, and stakeholder groups.


What You’ll Do

  • Support procurement initiatives for power generation and transmission projects, including RFP/RFQ development, proposal review, vendor coordination, and recommendation preparation.
  • Assist with the evaluation of technical and commercial proposals related to renewable and conventional generation resources, including solar, offshore wind, fuel cells, energy storage, smart grid, and conventional generation assets.
  • Provide technical input on generation and transmission procurement efforts, including power purchase agreements, easements, interconnection considerations, commercial terms, and vendor proposals.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, suppliers, engineering teams, procurement, legal, regulatory, and senior leadership to help move projects forward.
  • Support project development from procurement through contracted resource execution, including documentation, stakeholder communication, risk tracking, permitting awareness, and regulatory coordination.
  • Assist with project strategy and execution related to clean energy, grid modernization, generation capacity, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Contribute to commercial evaluations, supplier discussions, contract negotiations, pricing reviews, and proposal recommendations.


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, ideally Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting power generation, transmission, energy resources, or utility-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of how power plants, generation assets, energy capacity, and transmission systems operate.
  • Experience with RFP/RFQ processes, procurement support, proposal evaluations, vendor management, and commercial review.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiations, supplier management, financial proposal analysis, and commercial terms.
  • Project management experience with the ability to coordinate across technical, commercial, procurement, and leadership teams.
  • Knowledge of ISO-related requirements, utility procurement processes, regulatory considerations, and energy market requirements is highly preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale generation procurements, such as steam turbines, generation equipment, renewable resources, or conventional generation assets, is a strong plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Experience with PowerAdvocate is a plus.
