Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a dynamic rehabilitation facility in the Washington, D.C. area. This is a direct hire/full time position aided be the recruiting efforts of Staff Genius.
In this role, you will work closely with Occupational Therapists to provide high-quality patient care - your expertise in implementing care plans and assisting patients in their rehabilitation journey is crucial to their recovery and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in the development and implementation of individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' daily living skills and overall functional abilities.
- Monitor patient progress and document treatment outcomes accurately.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, techniques, and safety measures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and physiology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is required.
- Experience in outpatient settings, occupational health, acute care, or home health is preferred.
- Strong understanding of care plans, patient care protocols, and rehabilitation techniques.
- Familiarity with medical imaging processes is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
