Senior Network Engineer
Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support mission-critical network operations in Annapolis Junction, MD. This role is responsible for network services across the full lifecycle, including design, implementation, administration, testing, deployment, maintenance, optimization, and modernization of existing networks.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience supporting LAN/CAN/WAN environments, network architecture, network performance optimization, secure communications, dataflow management, and mission-focused infrastructure. This position requires a hands-on engineer who can design solutions, troubleshoot complex network issues, coordinate with systems engineering and dataflow teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform network services from initial design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of existing networks.
- Analyze network designs, specifications, architecture documents, and related technical documentation.
- Provide general LAN, CAN, and WAN administration.
- Schedule network conversions, cutovers, deployments, and upgrades.
- Provide input into the design of organizational network architecture and mission architecture.
- Configure, test, deploy, and maintain network equipment.
- Configure and optimize networks connecting front-end and back-end system components.
- Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools.
- Design, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain solutions for established network issues.
- Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management.
- Configure and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and accreditation artifacts.
- Implement network solutions supporting server requirements, including load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, traffic shaping, VoIP, GRE tunneling, IPSec, IP encryption, MoIP, and NAT.
- Coordinate with systems engineering and dataflow teams to ensure proper mission operations and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with dataflow organizations, end-customer recipients, follow-on data repositories, and tasking organizations to mitigate adverse system-wide dataflow impacts.
- Gather data needed to specify system and component performance and interface requirements.
- Integrate hardware and software to satisfy ISO 9000 requirements and other DoD/IC regulations.
- Report any known or suspected COMSEC incidents immediately.
- Inspect received material for evidence of tampering and report suspected physical security incidents immediately.
- Develop algorithms used in modules or incorporated into models associated with research and development of technologies and systems.
- Manage work schedules and direct the work of junior-level engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Twelve (12) years of relevant professional experience providing Network Engineering support.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following or a related discipline:
- Systems Engineering
- Computer Science
- Information Systems
- Engineering Science
- Engineering Management
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- Experience with network design, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade activities.
- Experience with LAN/CAN/WAN administration.
- Experience configuring, testing, deploying, and maintaining network equipment.
- Experience with network performance monitoring, latency reduction, throughput optimization, and dataflow management.
- Experience supporting secure government, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments.
- Strong documentation skills, including network diagrams, accreditation support, and technical reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with technical teams, mission partners, and customer stakeholders.
Degree Substitution
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
- Five (5) additional years of relevant Network Engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
