A commercial construction contractor is seeking dependable Fire Watch associates for a long-term project located on an active college campus in Columbia, South Carolina. In this position, you will help maintain a safe work environment by monitoring areas where welding, cutting, grinding, or other hot work is being performed. This project is expected to continue through the end of April 2027.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Monitor areas where welding, cutting, grinding, or other hot work is being performed
• Watch for sparks, smoke, smoldering materials, and other potential fire hazards
• Maintain a clear view of the assigned work area throughout the shift
• Remain alert and immediately report unsafe conditions or emergencies
• Help keep the surrounding work area clear of combustible materials and hazards
• Follow all jobsite safety procedures and instructions from onsite supervision
• Stand and walk for extended periods while continuously monitoring the work area
• Work outdoors in hot, cold, and changing weather conditions
• Complete all required documentation and safety training

Who We’re Looking For

• Dependable candidates who can commit to the entire project
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
• Able to remain focused and alert while performing repetitive monitoring duties
• Reliable transportation to the Columbia jobsite
• Steel-toed boots are required
• Previous construction, outdoor labor, safety, fire watch, or industrial experience is preferred
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate safety concerns immediately

What You Can Expect

• $18.00/hr
• Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:30pm, averaging approximately 48 hours per week
• Start Date: Monday, September 28, 2026
• Assignment Length: Expected to continue through April 30, 2027
• Weekly pay
• PPE provided; associates must supply their own steel-toed boots
