Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Plan Referral Specialist to process and manage referral authorization requests. This role involves verifying patient eligibility, entering accurate information into our systems, tracking referral activity, and communicating authorization decisions to patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process requests for referral authorizations.
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and required documentation.
- Accurately enter referral information into computer systems using proper codes and statuses.
- Track referrals and maintain records of authorization decisions.
- Notify patients and providers regarding authorization outcomes.
- Generate and review reports for management tracking purposes.
- Meet applicable organizational competencies, including accountability, accuracy, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital, physician office, or managed care organization.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and CPT coding.
- Proficient with computers and typing skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Work Environment:
- This position is onsite at our Irving, TX office.
- Standard office environment with computer-based work.
