A nonprofit is seeking an Accounting Specialist – AR to process accounts receivable and accounting functions for the organization. The ideal candidate for this position will be detail oriented, self-motivated, well organized, and able to work collaboratively with multiple staff and department managers to provide responsive service, meet deadlines, and facilitate the completion of departmental reporting. On site in Sacramento.
Responsiblities
- Process accounts receivable for multiple departments and programs on a monthly and as-needed basis. Retain digital records of supporting documentation for all payments and reconciliation adjustments.
- Match invoices with payments in the accounting system and code deposits accordingly.
- Prepare journal entries for review and posting.
- Assist with contract billing hours, state and federal programs, internal departments, and special projects.
- Work collaboratively with multiple departments and staff to ensure accurate coding and process procedures. Provide accounting support to managers, staff, and board members as needed.
- Gain and retain knowledge of multiple state and federal programs to ensure payment and reporting guidelines are met.
- Assist with internal and external audits by maintaining accurate and complete records to provide quick response to audit requests.
- Oversee company credit card usage by multiple card-holders. Track usage and provide expense entries to tracking spreadsheets and company accounting software.
- Provide support to Accounting Manager and team-members as needed to ensure a collaborative, team-based work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent helpful.
- Strong computer skills to facilitate efficient completion of accounting tasks using a variety of software and programs, helpful to have QuickBooks and the MS Office Suite (Excel and Excel)
- Excellent interpersonal and clear communication skills to support collaborative problem solving.
- Ability to adapt to change, learn new skills rapidly, and adjust deadlines.
