Travel Pay:

Travel Rate (based on 37.5 hours): Hourly $15.09, Stipend (Lodging $966.00 M&I $644.00) = $1,610.00

Shift Details:

• 
  7:30 AM–3:00 PM

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions between ASL and spoken English.
• Provide interpretation during classes, meetings, conferences, assemblies, and school events.
• Facilitate effective communication among students, teachers, peers, and staff.
• Review lesson plans and materials to ensure accurate interpretation.
• Adapt interpreting techniques to students’ communication needs and abilities.
• Support IEP implementation and participate in IEP meetings.
• Support students’ academic, vocabulary, social, and communication development.
• Accurately convey message content, tone, and intent while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to promote student progress and an inclusive learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• 
  Associate’s degree or completion of a sign language interpreter training program
• 
  Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• 
  Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA score ~3.2–3.5 or higher)
• 
  Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  Bachelor’s degree
• 
  National certification (RID – Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
• 
  Prior experience in a school or educational setting
• 
  Knowledge of deaf culture and language development

  Strong receptive and expressive ASL interpreting skills

  Ability to interpret accurately in real time
