7239 - Senior SQL Database Developer Must Reside in the St. Paul
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Position Summary
Staff Tech is seeking a Senior SQL Database Developer to support the development, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database solutions for a large public-sector organization. This role is ideal for an experienced database professional with a strong background in SQL Server development, ETL processes, data integration, reporting, and performance tuning. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performing data solutions that support critical business operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and database objects.
- Develop and optimize stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, indexes, and complex T-SQL queries.
- Design, build, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS, Python, and/or PySpark.
- Execute large-scale data migrations, including data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading.
- Develop data ingestion and transformation workflows supporting enterprise data initiatives.
- Design and maintain logical and physical database models.
- Build and support reporting solutions using SSRS and Power BI.
- Analyze and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Provide production support, including resolving database issues and ensuring system reliability.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deployments.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design and implement scalable database solutions.
- Create technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to project teams.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of professional experience in SQL Server database development or data engineering.
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Extensive experience developing stored procedures, views, functions, and complex SQL scripts.
- Strong experience with SSIS and ETL development.
- Experience with Python and/or PySpark for data processing and automation.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, and data modeling.
- Experience with enterprise data migration, conversion, and integration projects.
- Experience developing reports using SSRS and Power BI.
- Experience troubleshooting and tuning SQL Server performance.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jenkins.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in government or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience with large-scale enterprise modernization or data conversion initiatives.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
