Position Summary:
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach supports the overall mission of the Athletics Department by assisting in the design, implementation, and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for all varsity athletic teams. This 12-month position plays a vital role in promoting student-athlete performance, health, and well-being in alignment with NCAA Division III philosophy and institutional values.
Supervision
This position reports to Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreational Sports and will receive direction, guidance and supervision from the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Performance. This position may provide guidance and direction to other staff and student assistants as assigned by the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and implementation of evidence-based strength, speed, agility, flexibility, and conditioning programs for a variety of men’s and women’s sports.
- Instruct and supervise student-athletes in proper and safe strength and conditioning techniques.
- Monitor student-athlete progress and adapt training programs as needed to optimize performance and reduce injury risk.
- Collaborate with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and other athletics staff to ensure effective communication regarding student-athlete health and performance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized strength and conditioning facility that adheres to department and institutional policies.
- Assist with the scheduling and daily operation of the weight room, including equipment maintenance and inventory.
- Support the Strength and Conditioning Department with testing, data tracking, and performance evaluations.
- Contribute to the holistic development of student-athletes, promoting values consistent with the NCAA Division III philosophy of balancing academics, athletics, and personal growth.
- Participate in department meetings, professional development opportunities, and community engagement initiatives as requested.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Current certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS – NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC – CSCCa).
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles, exercise technique, and program design.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the Division III philosophy emphasizing student-athlete well-being and academic achievement.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Previous experience working with collegiate student-athletes, particularly at the NCAA Division III level.
- USAW-L1 Certification
- Experience with performance tracking software and/or data analysis tools.
Work Environment
Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to demonstrate the use of sports equipment; operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as computer printers as well as other office equipment used in day-to-day operations. The incumbent will be required to attend various functions and events during and after normal business hours at on and off campus locations.
This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Hiring Rate: $41,150 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
