Regional Sales Manager – Southern Territory
Position Summary
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing the outside sales team within the Southern Territory to achieve sales targets and expand Stafast’s customer base. This role drives regional sales strategy and execution, develops team performance through coaching and accountability, and maintains key customer relationships while ensuring customers receive value through Stafast’s products and services. Success requires a proactive, service-oriented approach, strong leadership skills, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, manage, coach, and mentor a team of outside sales representatives across the Southern Territory.
- Establish clear performance expectations, sales activity standards, and territory coverage plans; monitor results and provide ongoing feedback and performance management.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of outside sales team members while reinforcing sales standards and service-first behaviors.
- Set regional sales goals and quotas; track team and individual performance using defined metrics and reporting cadence.
- Conduct regular field ride-alongs, joint calls, and deal coaching to improve selling effectiveness, customer penetration, and close rates.
Sales & Territory Strategy
- Own and grow the assigned Southern Territory, including (but not limited to) the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and surrounding areas.
- Develop and execute regional sales plans and strategies aligned with company objectives to increase revenue and market share.
- Identify new business opportunities and guide the team in prospecting, pipeline development, and closing new accounts.
- Maintain direct involvement with key and strategic accounts to support relationship growth, pricing alignment, and complex solution selling.
Customer Engagement & Solutions
- Ensure the team consistently identifies customer needs and recommends solutions related to fastening, assembly, and automation applications.
- Partner with customers to improve processes, efficiency, and product performance.
- Support new product development initiatives by identifying opportunities and guiding projects through implementation.
- When needed, provide basic equipment or application support during customer visits, including light machine maintenance or troubleshooting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Engineering teams to deliver effective solutions and dependable execution for customers.
- Coordinate joint sales calls, technical support, pricing strategy, and delivery timelines.
- Communicate customer feedback and market insights internally to improve service, responsiveness, and product offerings.
Market Awareness & Relationship Building
- Stay informed on market trends, pricing, and supply conditions and coach the team on value-based selling.
- Maintain strong customer relationships to drive repeat business and referrals.
- Monitor industry developments through trade publications and ongoing learning and share relevant insights with the team.
Reporting & Sales Operations
- Maintain accurate records of regional sales activity, forecasts, customer interactions, and expenses; ensure consistent CRM usage across the team.
- Prepare and present regular regional sales and performance reports to sales leadership.
- Participate in sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows, including booth setup and representation, and ensure timely follow-up on leads.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and financial guidelines related to sales activities.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 40% travel required, including both driving and air travel based on customer needs.
- Must maintain reliable transportation and a driving record acceptable to company insurance standards.
- When not traveling, regular presence in the Fort Mill office is expected.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Proven success in outside sales, territory growth, and relationship-based selling within a relevant industry.
- Demonstrated leadership and people-management capability, including coaching, performance management, and motivating a sales team.
- Strong understanding of sales principles, practices, and techniques; effective negotiation and closing skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and sales-related tools with the ability to drive team adoption and accountability.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and execution skills for both short- and long-term objectives.
- Positive, resilient, service-first mindset with strong listening skills and customer focus.
- Willingness to travel as required within the assigned territory.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Prior experience managing an outside sales team or leading multi-representative territories with quota responsibility.
