This position assists senior engineers with data collection, modeling, failure analysis, and improvement initiatives that enhance system performance and reduce downtime. The RAM Engineer I applies fundamental engineering principles, follows established procedures, and contributes to technical documentation and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing basic reliability analyses such as failure rate calculation, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
- Support root‑cause investigations of failures and document findings.
- Participate in reliability testing, inspections, and equipment performance reviews.
- Gather operational, maintenance, and failure data from field teams, logs, and maintenance systems.
- Maintain reliability datasets and ensure accuracy of data inputs.
- Prepare summary reports, charts, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Assist in developing reliability block diagrams (RBDs) and availability models under guidance from senior engineers.
- Support failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA/FMECA) activities.
- Perform basic statistical analysis using engineering tools and software.
- Contribute to maintainability assessments by recording repair times, tool requirements, and procedural steps.
- Help evaluate equipment downtime trends and propose basic process improvements.
- Assist in reviewing maintenance manuals, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Learn and apply applicable industry standards (e.g., MIL‑STD‑1629, IEC 60300‑3, ISO reliability standards, or sector‑specific requirements).
- Follow company engineering processes, documentation standards, and safety practices.
- Support audits, reviews, and compliance reporting as required.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, quality, operations, and supply chain teams to gather information and support improvement initiatives.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute technical input appropriate to experience level.
- Communicate findings and progress updates clearly and professionally.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, systems, or related field)
- Basic understanding of reliability engineering concepts such as failure modes, reliability modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as Excel, statistical software, or reliability modeling applications (training provided).
- Ability to read technical drawings, equipment manuals, and engineering documents.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with appropriate guidance.
