Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with experience in heavy equipment operation and diagnostics. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team, as well as being a self starter ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, and other heavy machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance on various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, light duty diesel and some automotive.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and assembly tasks.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspensions, alignments, and HVAC systems.
- Interpret schematics to diagnose electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks as required during repairs or maintenance activities.
Experience
- Previous dealership experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive repair, including brake repair, shocks & struts, and transmissions.
- Familiarity with fabrication techniques is a plus.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators and cranes is advantageous.
- Ability to perform soldering tasks as needed for electrical repairs.
- A background in service technician roles or similar positions is beneficial.
