Position Overview
Stack Equipment is looking for a dependable and mechanically skilled Arrival & General Inspection Technician to join our team in Ocala, Florida.
This position is responsible for inspecting incoming aerial lift equipment, identifying mechanical and operational issues, documenting needed repairs, and helping determine what each machine needs to be ready for sale.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with aerial lifts or heavy equipment, strong mechanical knowledge, good attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform arrival inspections on incoming aerial lift and construction equipment.
- Inspect machines for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural issues.
- Test equipment functions including:
- Drive and steering
- Lift and lower functions
- Boom and platform functions
- Emergency stop systems
- Alarms and safety devices
- Hydraulic systems
- Engines and fuel systems
- Batteries and charging systems
- Identify leaks, damaged components, worn parts, and other repair needs.
- Check equipment for proper operation and overall condition.
- Document inspection findings clearly and accurately.
- Create detailed lists of recommended repairs and parts needed.
- Communicate equipment issues to the service department and management.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs when needed.
- Assist technicians by identifying problems before equipment enters the repair process.
- Verify completed repairs and confirm equipment is functioning properly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA/ANSI requirements.
- Perform other duties related to equipment inspection and service as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous mechanical experience.
- Familiarity with aerial lift equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and similar equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems.
- Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Must have your own professional hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple machines.
- Valid driver's license.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Preferred:
- Experience with Genie, JLG, Skyjack, MEC, Skytrak, or similar aerial equipment.
- Previous aerial lift technician or equipment rental experience.
- Experience with diesel and gasoline engines.
- Experience troubleshooting 12V/24V/48V electrical systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA/ANSI aerial lift inspection requirements.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and manufacturer service information.

- Ability to safely work around operating machinery.

Position Goal
The goal of the Arrival & General Inspection Technician is simple:
Know what came in, identify what it needs, document it accurately, and make sure nothing gets missed before the machine moves through the shop.
This position plays an important role in keeping Stack Equipment's equipment safe, reliable, and ready for our customers.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
