Job Summary :
Processes, embeds, cuts and stains tissue sections for pathological examinations. Provides and communicates information to authorized sources.
Job Requirements :
Education
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or, prior to April 24, 1995, qualified as a technician according to CLIA's 'Grandfather' provision or, has equivalent experience and been deemed competent.
Experience
- Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform assigned histology duties which include embedding, cutting, and staining.
- Ability to assist pathologist with gross specimen analysis.
- Knowledge of common special stains.
- Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate
Licensure/Certification
- ASCP or equivalent certification or eligible to sit for Board or Registry exam. Certification is required within 1 year of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $41.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
