We are seeking an experienced, detail-driven Quality Control Manager to support a high-performing organization delivering commercial landscape, snow removal, and government contract services across the DC Metro region. This role is central to maintaining plant health, design integrity, and site appearance across a large book of business, and offers the chance to shape quality standards across every facet of the operation.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the overall Quality Control program onsite
  • Perform all required inspections at the specified frequency on all grounds maintenance activities, including but not limited to recurring maintenance, enhancement work projects, snow removal, and pest control/herbicide application
  • Review and approve plant selection for new installations, replacements, and enhancement projects, ensuring species are appropriate to site conditions, climate zone, and design intent
  • Inspect installed landscapes against original design plans and planting schemes, flagging deviations in plant material, spacing, or layout
  • Assist with landscape design, plant selection, and installation planning for enhancement and renovation projects
  • Assist with management of subcontractors on select projects as needed
  • Responsible for management of Quality Control Inspector(s) as assigned
  • Ensure the QC program adheres to ISO9001 and contract-specific requirements
  • Assist with training of personnel on proper landscape and snow removal methods and skills
  • Travel to all contract sites to ensure contract terms are met and that work meets company and industry standards
  • Verify quality of work and issue deficiency reports as needed for work that does not meet standard
  • Provide monthly QC reports to the Regional Manager as required
  • Ensure workforce compliance with all federal, state, corporate, and site-specific safety policies and procedures

What You Bring

Experience & Education

  • 5 years of landscape quality control experience at the Account Manager level or higher
  • 3 years of commercial snow removal experience
  • Proven track record supporting a landscape book of business exceeding $3M
  • High school diploma required; undergraduate degree a plus
  • Experience with government contract structure and environmental compliance a plus
  • Background reviewing or contributing to landscape enhancement proposals

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of plant selection — annuals, perennials, and woody ornamentals — including regional/climate suitability for the transition zone
  • Working understanding of landscape design principles: massing, layering, seasonal interest, and site-appropriate plant selection
  • Working knowledge of turf care and basic horticultural practices for transition zone climates
  • Experience operating skid loaders, plow trucks, containment plows, and snow removal equipment
  • Experience developing innovative operation techniques utilizing the latest in grounds maintenance equipment
  • Ability to lift in excess of 80 lbs

Professional Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
  • Ability to give direction and instruction using basic industry Spanish a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels, vendors, and customers
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with strong decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Self-starter with flexibility to re-prioritize assignments as business needs change
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to pass a background screening and gain access to federal installations

Preferred / A Plus

  • Background in hardscape installation or management
  • Certified fertilizer/pesticide applicator
  • SIMA ASM/CSP certification
