What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Science Teacher position at St. Vincent Pallotti High School?
St. Vincent Pallotti is a coeducational, college preparatory school of 440 students with a diverse student body, located in the historical district of Laurel, MD. In 2021, Pallotti celebrated its 101st anniversary of providing Catholic education to Laurel and the surrounding regions. As a school, our strengths are our family-like atmosphere and our commitment to providing the widest possible array of curricular and extracurricular programs in a small school environment.
We are seeking a qualified high school science teacher with broad content knowledge in the sciences to join our Science department for the 2026-27 school year. This is a 10 month position. Course assignments may include Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Health, based on the candidate’s experience and credentials.
- Teach five sections of High School Science (College prep levels)
- A self-starter with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, parents, staff, and colleagues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish trust and credibility
- Culturally competent with the versatility to work with a diverse group of students
- Initiates, directs and evaluates learning
- Implements the content and curriculum effectively
- Guides students in applying knowledge and skills to new problem solving situations
- Familiarity and competency with learning management systems (such as Plusportals and Google Classroom) and encourages the use of technology in the classroom.
Strongly prefer someone with a bachelor's degree in a science related area as well as some teaching experience. Masters and/or other advanced degrees are encouraged.
Candidates must live in the DMV area and have reliable transportation.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
