SUMMARY 

The Residential Clinician is responsible for working with children/youth and their families of various racial/cultural groups to provide therapeutic services on-site, to include the coordinate services, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention and stabilization, training, mental health education, and linkage to necessary community resources.  This position also requires the documentation and maintenance of appropriate clinical documentation and attendance and participation in supervision and staff meetings. This position requires supervision on a scheduled basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our clients, colleagues and community partners from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Integrates principles of Trauma Informed Care in all aspects of work.
  • Is sensitive to the children’s culture and socioeconomic characteristics that delivers the best possible care to the youth and families served.
  • Accountable for mental health treatment of children and families including diagnostic assessment, individual, group and family therapy. 
  • Will implement and monitor the use of Trauma Informed Care.
  • Complete required on-going documentation within each child’s records in accordance with agency and regulatory standards. 
  • Implement Behavior Management and Treatment Plans and administer case openings, transfers, closures and progress summaries. 
  •   Respond to internal crisis referrals in congruence with Program Director.
  •   Act as a link to the County Case Workers, families/caregivers regarding therapeutic progress of the child. 
  • Coordinate, facilitate and document individual experiences that foster growth in learning skills, play activities, interaction with others, interpersonal skills, self image development and behavior control. 
  •   Intervene, as needed, to protect the children or the environment.
  •   Provide advocacy, monitoring, and linkage to services for families while the child is receiving mental health services.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree in Social Work/Counseling with current Licensure in the State of Ohio (LSW/LISW, LPC/LPCC or Psychologist) is required. Rendering Provider number required based on level of licensure.   National Provider Identification number required. Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Auto Liability Insurance Coverage. Previous experience working with school-age and/or pre-school children preferred.

Language Skills: 

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to complete, interpret and respond to clinical documentation inquiries. Ability to communicate sensitive information to client families and employees.

Technical Skills:  

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to work Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts at varying times based on the service delivery and administrative needs of SVFS clients and families. Ability to complete and turn in paperwork in a timely fashion. Ability to maintain high degree of empathy and compassion in meeting the needs of our clients and client families. Ability to build strong bonds with employees and managers to foster open, honest and candid communication. Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment. Ability to manage change in an organization reengineering its culture and approach to workload management. Ability to create and maintain highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with client information, SVFC proprietary information and sensitive situations. Ability to work and contribute as member of team.

Additional Abilities: Possess a basic understanding of child development.   Ability to build strong relationships with clients. Have an understanding of the importance of responding to child with empathy sensitivity and respect.  Ability to verbally and non-verbally de-escalate situations in a manner that protects dignity and integrity. Ability to effectively supervise a group of Severely and Emotionally Disturbed (SED) children.
