St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco operates the Multi-Service Center - Northern California’s largest homeless shelter, the Division Circle Navigation Center for chronically homeless individuals and couples and the Riley Center - Domestic Violence shelter and services for survivors. SUMMARY:

This position supports San Francisco’s provision of Urgent Accommodation Vouchers for survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner violence (adults and adults with children), with a focus on generating client referrals and securing and maintaining relationships with hotels that will adhere to program criteria and allow hotel stays (up to 14-days) for the program’s priority population. The position will also interact with clients and community-based partners and will assist with the booking of the hotel stay.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position working 16 hours per week.


DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM SERVICES:

The Urgent Accommodation Voucher Program for Domestic Violence Survivors (UAV-DV) is designed to strengthen San Francisco’s safety net for domestic and intimate partner violence survivors by introducing a new, low-barrier model that facilitates quick short-term access to a safe place to stay for survivors without accommodation who are in imminent danger. The program includes emergency hotel placement operations and supportive services with a goal of stabilizing and empowering survivors/clients and transitioning them into longer-term shelter or housing within 14 days. Supportive services include but are not limited to linkages to existing programs such as domestic violence shelters in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area, harm reduction services, public program benefits, health services, and behavioral health services.


SALARY AND BENEFITS OVERVIEW:

The Part Time UAV Program Coordinator wage is $29.00 per hour. Benefits include pro-rated vacation and sick hours, and SF healthcare.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage successful hotel partnership(s) and and/or locations to temporarily shelter domestic violence survivors for on a confidential basis, for up to a 14-day stay, working along side the UAV DV Case Manager and reporting to the Program Director.
  • Ensure hotel sites provide an appropriate standard of care, including but not limited to a clean, safe, and pest-free environment, per all applicable building, fire and health codes; linens and housekeeping; adequate and functioning furniture, fixtures, and equipment; and secure entry into the building.
  • Spearhead outreach and community education activities to facilitate survivor referrals and partnerships with regional housing and community-based service providers.
  • Conduct phone screenings and facilitate emergency hotel reservations for eligible callers in accordance with the hotel facility’s hours of operation.
  • Work with local domestic violence partners in the Bay Area to facilitate the collaboration of safety for survivors.
  • Ensure site facility maintenance issues are identified, when reported and communicated in a timely manner to hotel management, including any repairs, maintenance, and/or room turnover needed in client hotel rooms.
  • Collaborate with the Domestic Violence Case Manager to insure room inspections are conducted weekly.
  • Participate in regular debrief meetings with UAV-DV Case Manager and program team members.
  • Complete assigned trainings and professional development activities in a timely manner.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree in social services, psychology, or another related field.  Equivalent work experience (1 years hotel, hospitality, administrative), may be accepted in lieu of a degree. 
  • Verifiable completion of at least 40-hours of Domestic Violence Counselor Training meeting California state requirements or willingness to undertake and complete such training within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Understanding of the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness, especially in context to race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision and cooperatively with staff and management.
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQI , immigrant, low income communities, and communities of color.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to implement all relevant confidentiality protections regarding service provision for domestic violence survivors.
  • Ability to strictly adhere to Riley Center policies and procedures, 
  • Above average proficiency to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in using MS Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proficient reporting skills including data entry, Excel, and Word processing.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with San Francisco.
  •  Commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco.


Covid vaccination and negative result on TB test required.
