St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco operates the Multi-Service Center - Northern California’s largest homeless shelter, the Division Circle Navigation Center for chronically homeless individuals and couples and the Riley Center - Domestic Violence shelter and services for survivors. SUMMARY: 

The Community Case Manager provides counseling, advocacy, and case management services to survivors of domestic violence at The Riley Center’s Community Office. This includes support groups, drop-in support as well as follow-up services for former residents of the Riley Center residential programs. This is a full-time, non-exempt, union position.


SALARY AND BENEFITS OVERVIEW:

The Community Case Manager starts at $31.66 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and provide domestic violence services to Community Office clients:  telephone, home visits, counseling, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, referrals, and assist clients with paperwork.
  • Refer clients to appropriate domestic violence services in the community.
  • Assume responsibility of Community Office statistical and data collection for quarterly reports.
  • Attend Riley Center staff meetings, supervision meetings, and training.
  • Participate in appropriate ongoing staff development & training.
  • Facilitate support groups.
  • Participate in ongoing cross-training to perform duties in other departments of the agency as needed.
  • Maintain and compile client records, including individual case notes, daily log, and statistics, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Share office management duties: maintenance, donations, mail, supporting volunteers, etc.
  • Receive training to conduct Coordinated Entry assessments and, as needed, provide coverage for the role by completing assessments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree in Psychology, Social Work, Gender Studies, or another related field.  Experience and/or certifications may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • 40-hour DV certification required.  If not certified, training must be done upon hire.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence direct services, and government agencies is preferred.
  • Average ability to write, read and speak English.
  • Demonstrated skills in counseling, case management, and client advocacy.
  • Familiarity with Harm Reduction philosophy and approach.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to document clearly and legibly.
  • Understanding of domestic violence issues, especially in the context of race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision, as well as being a team player.
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrants, low-income communities, and communities of color. 
  • Working knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
  • Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent reporting skills including use of Microsoft Office and data entry skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a small office.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers, and staff.

Covid vaccination and negative result on TB test required.
