What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant position at ST VINCENT DE PAUL OF BALTIMORE INC?
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm
SUMMARY
Responsible for carrying out basic food preparation tasks and ensuring that chefs have everything they need Keeping the kitchen clean and following strict hygiene and health and safety rules. Completes all assignments made by the cook or Business Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Maintains order and cleanliness in the kitchen and surrounding areas.
- Responsible includes the back dock and dumpster areas; areas should be kept free from debris at all times.
- Keep all coolers clean and organize. Located and in proper covered container.
- Responsible for inventory organization, rotation, and fulfillment of requisition orders from cooks.
- Sweep and clean walk-in floor and dry storage area.
- Assists driver with the loading and unloading the truck. Assists with deliveries, when necessary.
- Storage of delivered items after they have been checked in.
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Assist with the tracking and ordering of necessary supplies.
- Maintains necessary certification.
- Always follow safe food handling practices.
- Attends meetings and events related to St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Attends and participates fully in all required staff meetings.
- Creates an atmosphere of care and respect for staff and customers.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED, required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Commitment to serving public in a respectful manner.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability and willingness to relate with others in a respectful matter and work well as a team member.
