SUMMARY: As a member of the Development Team, the Fundraising and Donor Relations Manager will be based at the Charlotte CARE Center in Port Charlotte, FL and reports to the Chief of Development. The position will focus on fundraising for the Charlotte CARE Center, the broader SVdP CARES SW FL service area, and will lead Mistletoe Ball, the primary fundraising event for the Charlotte CARE Center.  The position will discover, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual giving and major gift donors; and will help facilitate private grant solicitation. The position will be responsible for meeting the fundraising goals of the Charlotte CARE Center and supporting the fundraising goals of the entire organization. As an integral part of the fundraising team, the position will help identify, cultivate, steward, and expand relationships with new and current donors. This position will require travel and occasional work in the evenings and on weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed.   • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets.
  • Lead Mistletoe Ball and any other fundraisers for the Charlotte CARE Center.
  • Demonstrated success in major gift ($10,000 and higher) and corporate fundraising
  • Under the leadership of the Chief of Development, oversee the direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns for the Charlotte CARE Center.
  • Develop and manage a personal portfolio of approximately 150 – 200 donors and achieves performance targets on calls, proposals, solicitations, and stewardship. 
  • Assist with stewardship phone calls to new and existing donors.
  • Leverage the donor pipeline through volunteerism, events, in-kind donation drives, and fundraising events to retain and grow donor giving levels.
  • Represent the Development Department at faith based and community events and meetings, third party events, and Charlotte CARE Center and SVdP CARES events, and make solicitations for the Charlotte CARE Center and SVdP CARES when appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with the Management Team, development colleagues, and appropriate board members and/or other constituents to maximize total gift revenue, plan solicitation strategies, and leverage joint solicitation efforts.
  • Research and analyze individual donors and prospects in order to develop strategies for gift growth and acquisition – including post event follow up and conversion.
  • Research, write, edit, and/or oversee the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials in support of the unit's fund-raising activities.
  • Maintain integrity of donor database (CRM) as it relates to donor relations prospect file.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Excellent story teller
  • Demonstrated event management experience
  • Excellent fundraising and donor relations skills
  • Expertise in relationship management
  • Expertise in public speaking
  • Able to speak, write and understand English 
  • Demonstrated experience working with donor databases/CRMs
  • Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office, and cloud-based computing
  • Must be sensitive to and respect cultural diversity amongst clients, staff and volunteers and able to work with diverse racial, ethnic and economic groups
  • Flexible work schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to set appropriate limits, work under deadlines and multi-task

  • Possess strong work ethics
  • Successfully pass Law Enforcement background screening 
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, and reliable transportation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Pending on position and if prior to hire is approved by Chief Executive Officer, a comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum education qualifications).

  • This position requires a bachelor’s/4-year college degree and minimum of 4 or more years of related sales and or fundraising experience.

 

GENERAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation can be made, if appropriate, to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of job. Working in an office/site requires prolonged sitting at the computer workstation; standing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 40lbs. and some driving. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment. It is also required to regularly sit, speak, and listen, the employee is also required to walk, use hands and fingers to type, operate equipment, and maintain records and notes. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle new and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Personal maturity is an important attribute. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. Must have the ability to listen objectively to people, perceive the real problem and assist in bringing issues to a successful conclusion. Must relate and interact with, volunteers, clients, contractors, visitors and employees at all levels within the Agency. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Environment will occasionally become noisy due to equipment operations and interactions among clients and staff. There may be the possibility of being exposed to communicable disease, possible exposure to verbal abuse or similar behavior from residents/clients. On an as needed basis, employees may be called upon to work outside of the established work schedule or work odd hours. All information associated with the Agency is confidential.
