POSITION SUMMARY:
The Global Bobcat Advisor serves as the first point of contact in matters regarding all points in the student life cycle to include admission, registration and student financial services. This individual will support the new and continuing student enrollment process by working closely with staff and constituents and is the primary point of contact for matters related to all aspects of the student life cycle, including admission, registration, performing services to support an active, STUdent-centered environment.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides high quality customer service to prospective, new, and current students
- Provides front line support, answers phone calls and emails to assist students with matters related to all points within the student life cycle.
- Advises on and acts as a liaison during administrative processes, such as registration, degree planning, payment and financial aid processes.
- Consults with students each term to plan for future term enrollment and to review/revise long-range academic program schedules
- Assists the Student Succes team with class registration during peak periods
- Demonstrate to students how to navigate and utilize the University’s Early Alert and Support retention (Starfish), and degree planning (Student Planning) systems to assist students and faculty toward course and on-time degree completion
- Solve issues related to student success, reviews student educational plans, degree audits, petitions, and graduation requirements when needed and make referrals to resources within and outside of the University to ensure positive outcomes
- Provide information to students and staff related to Federal and State financial aid.
- Responsible for adherence to regulatory requirements, and University rules and regulations related to financial aid
- Advises students on cost of attendance information to include payment, payment plans and alternative funding sources
- Meets with students both virtually and in person to assist with enrollment and retention
- Recommends and directs students to appropriate campus resources including Academic Advising, Career Counseling, Disability Services, Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs, and other student support services as appropriate.
- Responsible for assisting with outreach to returning students with uncovered direct costs
Tuition Benefit
After 1 year of continuous full-time service, employees are eligible to enroll in STU’s bachelor and master courses, tuition free. The program will cover a maximum timeframe of 125% of credit hours attempted toward the degree program. Employees may enroll in STU’s doctoral program, with a 40% tuition discount, under the same conditions.

Education and experience required
- Bachelor's degree with three years of online student advising in a higher education setting or
- Master's degree with one year of student advising in a higher education setting
